How the Satellite Landed Downtown
A little over nineteen years ago, I found myself on a quest for a late night meal in downtown Spokane. But when I sorted through my choices, I realized I was looking for something other than a brightly lit corporate spot like Perkins, or Denny’s — or heaven forbid, another late night drive-through meal. That’s when it hit me — what downtown Spokane really needed, was a fun, friendly late-night diner with great food at affordable prices.
We took a look around to see what potential customers really wanted. The downtown nightlife was booming and the sidewalks and streets were regularly filled with hungry revelers, people leaving concerts, plays and movies, couples out on dates, friends meeting for birthday parties, bachelor and bachelorette parties, and more. What they all had in common, was a desire for a fun place to get a good bite to eat at the end of the evening. Downtown business people told us they wanted a fun, friendly place where they could meet for breakfast or lunch — or for a happy hour meeting with friends and co-workers.
And with that, the Satellite was born. The diner was an instant success. We could not have imagined what a destination spot we would become. Shortly after opening, the space next door (formerly a florists’ shop) opened up and we decided to expand into it and open the Satellite Lounge.
Today, with a lot of hard work, dedicated employees and loyal customers, we’re still going and growing strong. If you haven’t visited us for a while, come on in and say hello — we’ve made lots of improvements over the past few years to make our customers’ experience as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. If you’ve never tried the Satellite, come in and see what you’ve been missing. We promise to do all we can to make you want to come back again and again.
